OOTN | Halloween Poison Ivy

Cheesier smile maybe?

So if you read my previous post (Here) you'll know I am being Poison Ivy for Halloween this year. I really love my outfit so I thought I'd show you what I wore.
Poison outfits are hard to come by and any I found I really didn't like. So after scouring the internet I found this corset. It is just perfect! Green satin with black leafy design. I got so many compliments about how nice the corset is at the Halloween party! Admittedly it was quite uncomfortable to wear but once I got used to it i was fine. It was also pretty well priced at £18.99 on ebay. (Find it here)
I also wore dark green leggings from Topshop (here) and my black pixie boots from Primark.

For my hair I wore my extentions and curled them so they were wavy. I then clipped back my left side and quiffed my fringe. I used Leaf clips I made from cheap Primark hair clips and fake leaves from a craft store. I made some single leaf clips and clipped these down the left side of my hair.
Overall I am really pleased with my outfit. I can't wait to wear it again tonight!

FOTN | Halloween Poison Ivy

I have never really celebrated Halloween much further than trick or treating as a child. However, Halloween is my boyfriends favorite time of year and so for the first time ever I could get excited for it. Me and my friends went to a party last Saturday and all dressed up as various comic book characters. I chose Poison Ivy. (Mind control, toxic lips and long red hair why would I be any one else?!) So since this is my first proper Halloween I thought id share my excitement with you and show you my Poison Ivy makeup.

Now Poison Ivy is shown with different makeup in each comic/film so I just improvised with some green. and was so happy with the result!

I wanted my skin to look as flawless as possible (she is a comic book villain after all) so I used two layers of MAC Studio Sculpt (NC15) to get full coverage. I then used my trusty Collection Concealer in fair to cover anything my foundation didn't (mainly under my eyes and on my nose). I set it all with my favorite pressed powder, Rimmel Stay Matte in Transparent, and contoured with MUAs bronzer in Shade 3. I didn't use a blush, instead dusting a bit of Natural Collections eye shadow in Spring green over my cheekbones.

Now for the fun part! I used the green end of Max Factor's smokey effect eye shadow in citrus thunder on the inner third of my eye and L.A colors jumbo eye pencil in lime aid on the rest of my lid and blended them in with my finger. I wanted the inner part of my eye to be lighter and both act nicely as a cream base for eye shadow. I brushed on Natural collections eye shadow in spring green all over the lid and a little bit out over the inner corner of my eye. I then blended my MUA eye shadow in Shade 7 in the outer corner of my eye and through my crease to create a graduated smokey effect. I lined my lid with Rimmel's gel liner and created long cat eye flicks. I lined my waterline with Rimmel scandal eyes khol eyeliner in black. I then added a small coat of Revlons Lash Potion mascara in blackest black and added some false eyelashes. (I forgot to photograph these but they are the Boots Perfect finish Natural Volume false lashes). Then I used Natural Collection  Crushed walnut eyeshadow to define my brows and their clear mascara to set them in place.

On my lips I wanted an orangey red colour so Macs lipstick in So Chaud was perfect. This matched really well to my Essie nail polish in Snap Happy. Both (I think) are perfect for  poison ivy.
Me and my boyfriend being cute at the party!

Haul | MAC

Hey, just a quick post to show you what I got from MAC recently. I only owned one MAC lipstick before this so I'm very excited! I have had my eye on the eye shadow Woodwinked for a while now and I am super happy to finally have it its a really pretty bronze colour and I have worn it pretty much everyday since I got it. I have been needing a decent foundation for a while no matter how many I try from boots they never seem to work for me. I asked for a sample of the studio sculpt foundation and fell in love with it. Its alot more expensive than foundations I'm used to buying but its definitely worth it since it actually works on my skin!

What I bought:

MAC Studio Sculpt Foundation NC15 - £25
MAC Eye shadow in Woodwinked - £12.50

I love both of these products and will be doing reviews for both soon.

Update | Where have I been?

So I haven't blogged since August. A lot has been going on in my life and blogging found it's self pushed to one side covered up by other things. I started university this September and so packing, finance sorting and general tears and tantrums over took everything else. It has taken me a long time to get used to living in a new city (I'm still not convinced I like it), but now things are settling I'm finding I have a lot of time to myself that I need to fill with something to try and distract me from my home sickness. This hopefully will come in the form of blogging. I don't know how long I will keep up with it (with my ever increasing uni work load), or how regularly I will post, but for now I'm back and excited to start writing again. I have a few blog posts planned so watch this space!

Overnight Makeup Bag Essentials

Over the last few weeks I have been staying overnight at my boyfriends house quite a lot and so have built up a pretty trusty group of products I like to take with me. As I don't like to spend a long time getting ready on a morning when I'm out of my house I only take my essentials.

Rimmel Wake me up concealer ~ Ivory

I used to hate this concealer but recently I dug it back out and have really fallen in love with it, it is an illuminating concealer and I really like to apply it under my eyes to brighten them up.

Bourjois Healthy mix Concealer ~ 51

I dab a bit of this concealer on any redness or blemishes I have on my face and it covers everything really well and lasts for hours. I love the tube it comes in as you can squeeze out as much as you need and it feels a little more hygienic than doe foot applicators that other concealers have. (Especially since I use this on spots). I blend it over my face using the Real Techniques Contour brush.

Rimmel Stay matte powder ~ Transparent

This has been my go to powder for quite a few months now and I love it! I blend a bit of this over my whole face to set the concealer and mattify using the buffing brush from Real Techniques. I find that this combined with the concealers gives a finish I may actually prefer to a full foundation look and it takes less than half the time!

Rimmel Eyebrow Pencil ~ Hazel

I never used to do anything with my brows however suddenly filling them in has become an essential. This pencil makes doing my brows really quick and easy (I already have quite defined/thick brows and so only need a tiny bit of filling in anyway). Also the little comb on the lid means I don't need to take my brow comb.

Natural Collection Mascara ~ Clear

This stuff is cheap (under £2) and does the job. I use it to fix my eyebrows in place after I used the pencil or, if I'm in a real rush, just on its own.

Maybelline Colour tattoo Cream eye shadow ~ On and on bronze

I use this pretty much everyday blending a bit over my eyelid. The ultimate in speedy makeup applications!

Rimmel Scandaleyes eyeliner ~Bronze

I smudge this on my lower lash line to give a instant 'I-actually-made-effort' look despite the lack of actual effort. It lasts a good few hours, is cheap and is a really lovely colour. Winner all round!

Seventeen Backlash Mascara

This is my go to mascara at the moment. It gives really long volumized lashes in just a couple of coats so is perfect for when you're in a rush.

MAC Lipstick ~ So Chaud

I very rarely leave the house without a lipstick on these days and this on is my current favorite. It is a lovely orangey red and makes any makeup look amazing!

Candy Store Silicone cosmetics bag ~ Purple

I got this as a gift for Christmas and i love it! Its the perfect size to fit these makeup bits in without being to big. Plus it is made of silicone so if anything leaks it just wipes clean.

I love all these products and I find when I get ready on a morning using them it takes less than 10 min. What are your makeup essentials?

My Top Three | Maybelline

So I have decided to start doing posts on my top three picks from makeup brands. I am going to aim to do one of these a week (I'm not sure how that will go haha!) So.. Lets get started!
Firstly the super stay 24 colour lipstick. I love lip stains especially on nights out. This one is amazing, it looks just like a normal lipstick but stays on like nothing else (I wake up the next day with it still intact) so I don't need to worry about constant replication and it means my boyfriend doesn't come away with more lipstick on than me! I have the colour Cherry Pie which is an amazing deep red. They have two balms a glossy one and a matte one, I really want to get more colours of this because I love it so much and i am desprate to try the matte balm.
A rubbish picture to show you the amazing colour!
My second pick is the colour tattoo. I have the shade 35 On and on bronze. I wear this nearly everyday and am starting to run low. It stays on all day and doesn't crease even in the hot weather we have had in England recently! It is great on its own or as a base for other eye shadow! They have quite a few different shades but this is by far my favorite. (I wish they did a nude).

My last pick is their new The Mega Plush Volume Express mascara. This has a really cool brush (I will do a full review soon) and is really good for quick long lashes. It is a little difficult to master at first but after i got used to it I started really enjoying it. It doesn't flake and is easy to take off at the end of the day. Great!
On and on bronze on the lid and one coat of the mascara!
Have you tried any of these? What are your favorite Maybelline products?
Let me know!

Haul | Boots

I recently went for a day out shopping with my Mam and found myself in Boots. I thought it would be cool to showed you what I bought. (I really like seeing what other people buy I'm so nosey).
Kicking it off with makeup, first I got Rimmel Stay Matte Powder in transparent. I buy this powder over and over again, its the best one i have tried and its only £3.99 so can't really go wrong. I also got Natural collections blush in peach melba. I had this once before but I dropped it and it broke. I don't wear blush often but this one is a really nice subtle shade so is perfect for me! I  have been wanting to try the BarryM Dazzle dusts for a long time so I finally took the plunge and got one. I chose copper because it looked really nice when I swatched it on my hand however i find it a bit yellowy on my eyes (I'm trying to find a way to make it work). I also got a Seventeen lip crayon in bold which is a really nice glossy orange shade.
I got 2 new brushes, a retractable lip brush (something iv been wanting for a while) and a new No7 Eye contour brush. This is my favorite brush for blending out eye shadow so i thought having a second cant hurt!
I got 2 nail varnishes a clear one from Natural collection (the BarryM one I normally get was out of stock and this was cheap). The other is a black and white graffiti nail effect. Its really cool and looks like paint splatters (review soon?)

This one is a little bit boring but this is the hair dye and colour I use on my hair. It was starting to grow out so I needed some more.
Boots own Dry shampoo! Its a little bit cheaper than my favorite batiste and does the same job! (it smells like the tropical batiste which is my favorite sent too!)
Hair masks can be expensive and I really needed a new one for my hair extensions. This one was not to expensive and smells amazing! (I love coconut)

Now these may seem weird but I have suffered with acne for quite a few years, on my body and my face (gross huh?!) I am always on the look out for new products that might help and I spotted the boots tea tree and witch hazel back spray. They have a whole new range of products to tackle body acne which is something I have never seen before. I am going to give this a good try and let you know how I get on! I also found this clearing gel from Good Things, I have never herd of this brand before but it wasn't to expensive and it has no nastiness in it so it is worth a try!
I never thought to look in Boots for jewelry but they had some really nice pieces in for pretty good prices! these two will be perfect for summer / autumn and i love the look of stacking up bracelets.
A random one to finish off. My boyfriend has really bad hay fever at this time of year and my mum suggested this would help him so we picked him some up. Its vegan, organic and drug free so can be used with what ever other hay fever medication you're on. I will let you know how he gets on with this soon!

You can find everything I bought at boots!
Have you tried any of these things?
Let me know what you think!
