How to: Make an eye shadow palette...

I had a awful lot of random single eye shadows that weren't in palettes or boxes. I was going to throw them out but I thought "what a waste!" So I created a little palette of my own out of things I found in my house.

What you will need
  • A craft knife
  • Some glue (I recommend a strong glue because you need to stick things to plastic)
  • Some card (I used some from a shoe box so it already was black, you could paint it if you wanted)
  • Some single eye-shadows/blushes (depoted)
  • A DVD case (I used the box from my old sims game that broke)
  • A cheeky bit of patience

Step 1

First you want to cut any parts of the case that stick up using the craft knife. This is was a tad tricky because the plastic was quite thick. It took a while but I got there. Make sure you don't chop off the bit that holds it closed!

Step 2

Next you need to grab the card. I used some from a shoe box because it was already glossy and black. If you don't have a shoe box or card the right colour just paint it. You need to cut the card so it fits nice and snug into the case, one at each side.

Step 3

Depot all the eye shadows you want to put in your pallet.

Step 4

Arrange your eye shadows how you want them to be places in your palette on one of the card sides. Draw round them and then cut out the shapes with your craft knife.

Step 5

Glue in both sides of the card. I tried using prit stick first but this didn't stick the card to the plastic at all. Use a stronger glue or something designed for sticking things to plastic.

Step 6

Stick your eye shadows in arranging them how you like. I chose to put the colours that go well together.

Step 7

I took the paper from the outside of the game box and used bits of magazines to decorate it and to  make the words. You could decorate it however you wanted, funky paper or just a list of the colours inside its really up to you.

Step 8

Here I stuck the paper to the box using the same glue as before.

The finished thing!

This is that mine looked like when it was finished. I found some small mirrors in a cupboard so though i would stick them on the other half. I am really impressed with my little palette.

Let me know what you think!
Tatty bye,
